Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is a mobile system?
A: A mobile system is an MRI or CT system that has been specially engineered to withstand travel on the road. It has then been integrated into a complete diagnostic suite built inside a trailer. A mobile system has identical performance output as a fixed site system, giving you, your referring physicians and patients high quality diagnostic images. Mobile Interim Solutions works hard to insure that its systems have the most current software levels available.

Q: What are the advantages to having a mobile MRI or CT system?
A: There are several advantages to utilizing mobile equipment:
  • Provides quick access to high quality images on a temporary basis
  • Can be sited quickly and easily
  • Eliminates costly construction for limited term projects
  • Provides short term relief without a long term investment
  • Allows the testing of a new platform or modality before making a permanent investment
Q: What are some reasons why customers choose mobile systems?
A: Here are a few:
  • Continue service while an in-house system is being installed or upgraded
  • Accommodate patient backlog
  • Temporary equipment downtime
  • Cost-effective answer to adding additional equipment
  • Space does not exist in their facility for a fixed system
  • Share system capacity among several facilities
  • Entrepreneurship opportunities
Q: Who do I contact for additional information on mobile products and services?
A: Please call Mobile Interim Solutions at 1-888-367-4327 to speak with our knowledgeable team.

Q: What is the quickest delivery time for a mobile MRI or CT system if my in-house equipment unexpectedly goes down?
A: Mobile Interim Solutions can provide a system in as little as 24 hours, depending on our equipment availability. We have an extensive fleet of systems, one of which can be on the road to your facility within hours of your initial call to us to meet your unexpected short-term equipment needs.

Q: How much lead-time should I factor in if I want to rent a temporary MRI or CT system during renovations or equipment upgrades?
A: Contacting us two to four weeks prior to your scheduled upgrade or renovation is recommended to insure system availability. We take care of all the delivery details and set-up at your facility.

Q: What is the typical site preparation time for a mobile system?
A: Oftentimes, there is no site preparation necessary whatsoever. If you have concerns about space, system requirements, or if you have never had mobile service, simply contact us and we will walk you through the process.

Q: What is the typical time to setup a new mobile system upon arrival?
A: For a mobile MRI or CT system, setup time typically only takes from 1 to 5 hours, depending on the system type. We routinely schedule our units to arrive early enough to be inspected by factory engineers.

Q: What is the minimum and maximum length of time I can rent a mobile MRI or CT system?
A: The minimum length of a contract is one week. There is no maximum length to a contract. Mobile Interim Solutions rents systems on a monthly, quarterly or yearly basis, always with an option to extend the length of the contract.

Q: What is typically needed to site a mobile system?
A: The following items are typically needed:
  • Site pad required – A solid, level location to support the size and weight of the mobile system.

Q: What are the service arrangements on the mobile MRI and CT systems?
A: Unlike some mobile providers, Mobile Interim Solutions contracts with the original equipment manufacturer to service all our equipment. Service on all trailer components is provided through Mobile Interim Solutions 24 hours a day, which includes air conditioning, lift gates, and locks. Call us for more information about our Service Program.

Q. Where is the exclusion zone for MR mobiles?
A. The exclusion zone for cardiac pacemakers, neurostimulators, and other
biostimulation devices is recommended at 5 gauss. All our mobile MRI systems are actively shielded, which means the exclusion zone does not extend beyond the interior walls of the van. Appropriate warning signs are permanently attached to the magnet room doors.

Q. Is a MR mobile moved with magnet energized?

A. The mobile MRI system is designed to move at field, and does not require ramp down of magnet for transport, or time consuming ramp-up upon delivery.
